teachers

Meet the Summer Hop Weekend teachers.

Alberto Meucci
ShimSham.pl · Warsaw

Alberto Meucci

Born in Italy, Alberto discovered swing dance in 2015 and hasn't stopped since. Shortly after beginning his dance journey, he started travelling to festivals across Europe, learning from different artists and competing. After residencies in Budapest and Vilnius, he has made Warsaw his home and dance base, teaching at ShimSham.pl. While he still enjoys competing and throwing down on the dance floor, his favourite moments are spent social dancing. Alberto finds inspiration in every lindy hopper he meets – each encounter brings something new. Dancing fuels his energy and curiosity, driving him to keep exploring the history and culture of the dance. His pockets are filled with rhythmic variations and… jokes ;)

Ana Maeso
Rayuela Swing · Berlin

Ana Maeso

Ana is a guest in Afro-American dance culture: social dancer and teacher from Granada (Spain), currently residing in Berlin, where she is the founder of Rayuela Swing – the school where she teaches and organises events. Her classes focus on communal sharing: learning by trying, with more dancing than explanations. She strives to create an environment where partnered and solo dance feel like an exploration rather than mechanical repetition of patterns. Her space in the classroom is dictated by her belief that, by approaching the dance with humility and respect, we can honour its legacy and share its beauty with others in a meaningful and authentic way.

Marta Stawicka
Retro Dance Studio · Poznań

Marta Stawicka

Marta has been exploring different forms of dance since childhood – from freestyle, through competitive ballroom, to Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz. She is most fascinated by improvisation, rhythm and dialogue – with the music, with another person, and with herself. Since 2018 she has been growing within the swing community, travelling to festivals and constantly broadening her dance horizons. What she values most in dance is authenticity – the freedom to express yourself, to discover your own voice and to build connection through movement. In her classes she encourages careful listening to the music, experimenting, and blending what's rooted in tradition with your own sensibility.

Live music

Jazz Dreamers

We are dreamers, jazz dreamers – hence our name, Jazz Dreamers. The band is made up of musicians who create swing music tailored to the tastes and needs of dancers. We've played at the biggest Polish festivals: Dragon Swing in Kraków, Retro Weekend in Warsaw, and Lindy Szau's Birthday Jam in Wrocław. We travel with our music across Europe and are open to new destinations! We've released two albums – "Happy Feet" and "Back in Town" – available on Bandcamp and on streaming platforms. We play our own arrangements of 1930s, '40s and '50s music – Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson, Chick Webb, Benny Goodman, Jimmy Lunceford – alongside original compositions.

Level descriptions

We run the Lindy Hop classes at two levels – find the one that fits you.

Promising Hoppers

You dance a lot and have a solid foundation, but you're still actively refining your technique. Memorizing an entire phrase after seeing it only once is still a challenge. You're ready to start incorporating more solo jazz vocabulary, rhythmic variations, and musicality into your dancing. You feel confident dancing at slow and medium tempos, and at faster tempos (around 180 BPM) you can comfortably execute the fundamental shapes and movements. This level is for dancers who are ready to take the next step toward advanced dancing.

Really Advanced

You feel comfortable dancing at any tempo – fast, medium, or slow. You confidently play with rhythm, shapes, dynamics, and musicality, adapting your movement to the music with ease. You memorize long choreographies quickly and don't need lengthy explanations from instructors – if you can see it, you can do it. This level is for experienced dancers who want to focus on quality, interpretation, and refining the details of their dancing.

about us

Summer Hop Weekend is organised by Swing Dance Wrocław – Ania, Monika and Bartek. For years we've co-created Wrocław's swing community: hundreds of socials, dozens of workshops and several editions of the most beautiful festival in Poland. We run music and dance events our own way – out of love for swing and for people. Join us!

Wrocław is a few hours from Berlin, Prague, Kraków and Warsaw, and everything here happens within walking distance – a good excuse to turn a weekend of workshops into a short dance trip abroad. Write to us in English or Polish; on the dance floor we mostly speak rhythm anyway.
